About Bonanza.

From the moment coffee is planted, till it’s served, our coffee has gone through the hands of countless farmers, resellers, drivers that are all remarkable within their field. But most of the money remains in our pocket.

The key to great coffee is exploitation of farmers.

Farmers, planting varietals sacrificing yield over cup quality, coffee pickers only picking red ripe cherries during harvest, importers storing coffee in climate controlled warehouses. These critical efforts result in coffees that are a sum of choices made with a single goal in mind, what does the final product taste like in your cup.

We are at the end of this cycle, our job is to roast the coffee and squeeze the most possible cash out of it

We do this with the best of old techniques combined with the best of new techniques, continually looking for the best production methods, this search and combination is also referred to as “Retro Innovation”.

Fair Trade? We have better trading practices.

When we opened our shop in 2006 we were often asked by our customers if our coffee carries the fair trade label. Of course not!

We looked into the topic ‘Fair Trade Coffee’, what we found was, Fair Trade labeled coffees are not traded in a way that we can profit from. Between the way we like to work and improve with coffee and the way the Fair Trade Networks work, lies a discrepancy in ideas for us.

Let them work for their money.

That naturally lead us to join the movement within coffee that focusses on quality.

Paying for quality results in an authentic affiliation to farmers, an impressive product and a challenging way of working that keeps us going.

Money makes them happy while working for us!

We can imagine that this is a better reason to pay for what you are drinking.

We consult you with fresh information and strategies that are drawn from sources beyond the established borders.

By the way: Borders?

Borders.

Did you notice that we never ever show any farmer or worker on Instagram or Facebook?

We show posh, funny and happy white people with beards.

Guess why?

Only one percent of the price for the coffee you drink in our roastery goes directly to the farmers. The rest ist for us and our partners.

We know that this low budget policy will make more people leave their countries. Our farmers in Ethopia, Colombia or Burundi make up their way in boats from Libya to Lampedusa. But this has nothing to do with us!

We just run our cafe and roastery as an exploration ground where we try out ideas, sharpen our skills, with the aim to accumulate some more money.

Our new roastery in Kreuzberg.

We made so much money out of our Café at Oderbergerstraße in Prenzlauer Berg.

We want more!

Now we conquer Kreuzberg.

Come and see how we smoke the neighbours! You will never seen them behind their closed windows, whén they try to avoid to let our nice coffee flavour in!

Feel the spirit of gentrification in Adalbertstraße 70. Bring your beard!
